This policy explains what we collect when you use our free store-building tool and the Dream Store app, why we collect it, and what we do with it. If anything here isn’t clear, email us and we’ll explain it in plain English.
This tool is run by Simon Squibb / HelpBnk (“we”, “us”). We help first-time founders get an online store set up for free.
When you use the tool, we collect the details you give us:
If you install our Dream Store app on a Shopify store, we also store your store’s address (for example yourshop.myshopify.com), the access token and refresh token that let the app set the store up for you, and a record of what the app built.
We also read and store a few details about the store itself, so that we can link it to the answers you gave us a few minutes earlier and see how the tool is doing: the store’s contact email, its name, and its country, city and currency. We do not read your orders, your customers or your payment details.
When you go from our tool to Shopify, the link you follow carries a random reference code we generate — something like ds4f73c9ac177eabde. It contains no personal information. It is passed to Impact, the affiliate network Shopify uses, so that we can tell which sign-ups came from this tool. We do not send your name or email address to Impact. We earn a commission from Shopify when someone signs up this way; it costs you nothing and does not change your price.
We use your details to build your store and get it to you, to contact you about it, and to help you set it up. We use the usage data to understand what’s working and make the tool better.
When you install it, the app signs in to your Shopify store on your behalf and adds starter content: products and images, collections, pages, your menu, and shop policies. It only does this on a store that has no products yet — if your store already has products, the app leaves it completely alone and changes nothing.
The app does not read your orders, your customers, or your payment details, and it never asks for access to them.
To set up your store we work with Shopify, the platform your store runs on, and their privacy policy covers what they do with your information. We also use trusted tools to run this service and understand how it is used: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (our database), HubSpot (contacts and email), PostHog (product analytics) and Impact (affiliate tracking, which receives only the random reference code described above). We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
We process your details based on your consent, which you give when you tick the box and submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can object to us using it. To do any of these, email us and we’ll sort it. If you’re in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We keep your details for as long as we’re helping you with your store and for a reasonable period afterwards, then we delete them. If you uninstall the Dream Store app, we delete the access token straight away and stop being able to reach your store at all. Shopify also sends us data deletion requests on your behalf, and we act on them.
